Thailand bolsters textiles and handicrafts made by local artisans to global markets

As part of the initiative, the government has aimed to showcase Thai textiles globally.

Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin shared on social media platform X the government’s efforts following the insightful recommendations of Her Royal Highness Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana Rajakanya to endorse and bolster the textiles and handicrafts crafted by Thai artisans across various regions.

As part of this initiative, the government has aimed to showcase Thai textiles globally. He noted his personal practice of donning attire crafted from Thai textiles for both domestic and international engagements.

At a gala dinner during the Ramadan fasting month on March 21st, he admired creations from local Thai textiles by internationally acclaimed designers and brands presented at the event.

The Prime Minister praised these designers for their profound grasp of Thai textile traditions, skillfully modernizing them into luxurious, globally appealing pieces while preserving their intrinsic Thai characteristics.

He sees this as an enhancement of Thai textiles’ value on an international scale and conveyed his aspirations and commitment to the ongoing development of Thai textiles, with unwavering support from the government. (NNT)
